The India Israel Coalition (“IIC”) was established to provide effective advocacy, public awareness of common issues, and promote cooperation between Indian and Jewish communities in areas of science, technology, research, security, and the arts.
Two oldest cultures and civilizations
India and Israel are among the oldest cultures that are still around today. India has a civilization that dates to at least 2500 BCE, known for its rich history, diverse cultures, and contributions to philosophy, science, mathematics, and the arts. Israel also has ancient roots, with a history that goes back several thousand years, particularly significant in religious and historical contexts.
Facing similar issues
Israel and India, despite being in different regions and having different cultural backgrounds, face several similar issues:
Territorial Disputes: Both countries have faced long-standing territorial disputes that have led to conflicts with their neighbors. Israel's conflict with Palestinians over the West Bank and Gaza Strip is well known, while India has faced disputes, particularly with Pakistan, over the region of Jammu and Kashmir.
Terrorism: Both Israel and India have been targets of terrorism. Militant groups operating in the region have carried out attacks targeting civilians, leading to loss of life and instability. Both countries have also accused neighboring countries of supporting or harboring terrorist organizations.
Religious and Ethnic Diversity: Both countries are diverse in terms of religion, ethnicity, and culture, which can sometimes lead to tensions and conflicts. India has a large Muslim population, while Israel has a significant Arab minority. Managing diversity and ensuring harmony among different groups is a common challenge.
Water Scarcity: Both Israel and India face challenges related to water scarcity. Israel has implemented innovative technologies and practices for water management, which India has also begun to adopt in regions facing water stress.
Cybersecurity: Both countries are increasingly facing cybersecurity threats, including hacking, cyber espionage, and attacks on critical infrastructure. Both nations have been working on strengthening their cybersecurity capabilities to counter these threats.
Geopolitical Pressures: Both Israel and India are located in regions with complex geopolitical dynamics. They face pressures from neighboring countries and global powers, which can impact their foreign policy decisions and security strategies.
Defense and Security: Both countries prioritize defense and security due to the threats they face. They have invested heavily in their defense forces and technologies to ensure their security and protect their interests.
Despite these challenges, both Israel and India have shown resilience and have made significant progress in various fields, including technology, agriculture, and innovation. They continue to work on addressing these issues to ensure stability, security, and prosperity for their people.
